Yurie Samira Yamazaki YamashitaJun 22, 2024It was so nice to have a catch-up with Miguel talking about recent things that happened lately. I'm glad he now plays a great role in organizing unions for graduate students, which would be a really demanding but exciting job. Also, we talked a little bit about how things have changed in a couple of decades regarding how much police investigated bike accidents in Japan. Miguel told me that the meticulous process Japanese police takes nowadays is quite unique, and they would never do the same in the US. Today's main topic was about the kind of job situation which causes terrible stress for workers, based on a BBC 6 min. learning English article. I have learned some new vocabularies such as "presenteesm", which are supposed to be used only in the UK. I thought it's a good expression to express the style of people who put too much emphasis on attending or being in the workplace, not admitting any flexibility to have more well-balanced workhours. The culture in developed nations such as the UK and Japan, aiming more profits with a high-level efficiency, has caused a lot of pressure and mental illnesses on the company employees.

Warm Up/ Check in： 因為沒有事前先問好主題，老師提議在pictionary玩猜字遊戲。發現這有助於讓我醒腦，期待未來能接觸更多不同種類的遊戲，像是上次老師提到「google其實內建許多遊戲」。或是以「Self-Reflection Questions For Personal Growth」的問題來check in。期待往後更有深度的內容。 2. 主題/目標： 遊戲幾輪後我臨時動議，提出這堂課想做的事：「用對話的方式，幫助我釐清我的職涯期待、討論如何達到工作與生活的平衡」。 3.上課內容： 老師的思路、建議 1)詢問：轉職去向。我們主要討論「國小教育」還有「花藝師」 2)詢問：如果要轉職，我可不可以接受低薪、高工時 3)詢問：我是否做了research（有哪些職缺、需要具備哪些技能) 4)建議：做性向測驗 4.課堂結尾： 因為時間/我的表達能力/對於想要的東西都不夠具體，所以對話搔不到癢處。因此在課堂最後，希望老師提供一些關鍵字，但這些關鍵字仍然還沒有到超級enlightment、直指核心的程度。 我接著想到上次上”how to make a pop up book”的超棒體驗，於是建議下次我們就繼續來「搜尋」－用英文當作工具，幫助自己。 5.下次課堂： 1)主題：老師演示，怎麼找到我想要的工具 2)說明：找到「系統性」、「有理論支持」的一系列自我探尋的題目/思考工具方法。而且除了「職涯發展」，也能考慮到「人生」-全人發展、自我身心健康。我能學習如何「自我探索/釐清問題」，知道方法（思考工具）、步驟（如果要轉職的話）、（如果要建立個人品牌/創業）我該做的事。 6. 收穫： 1)課堂後就做這樣的記錄。重整思考。 2)保留課堂最後5~10分鐘，請老師提供一些相關議題的關鍵字，問問看老師能否提供進一步的資源或網站 p.s.因為非常喜歡老師能提供假日的晨間課，所以繼續買了20堂50分鐘的課程！
